While the US has offered to work with India on developing 5G technology in collaboration with Japan, France’s road map is the first initiative abroad with India.

India and France have agreed to work together on the risks associated with 5G deployment and technical solutions to deal with them. The two countries concluded a road map for a summit between PM Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday.

While the US has offered to work with India on developing 5G technology in collaboration with Japan, France’s road map is the first initiative abroad with India.

Both nations highlighted the risks due to the dissemination of manipulation information, fake news and profiling of personal data.

The two sides called for an international exchange on this threat, particularly on the development of a framework for regulating social media platforms.

India and France also decided to make digital technology a transformational factor in their societies, fight terror, promote growth, bridge the development and digital divide.
